Dave's Eagle Scout project acknowledged the importance cyclical natural regeneration of oak woodlands. He spent five consecutive weekends clearing existing tree canopies at the Macarthur Woods Preserve. By carefully removing upper branches above, intent was to increase natural daylight to the understory below. Project helped ensured new oak growth, rising from the forest floor.
